I'm thinking I saw this on the Texe Marrs website.

did anybody else notice the blue "PROPOSED SALES TAX IMPROVEMENT STREET" signs? They are up and down 265 and around the mall area.
They are campaign signs for taxes !!! Isn't that clever. When the city was asked about it, they said that they could use tax payer money on them because they were "informational". Another clever loophole.

yeah i've seen the tax signs around. they are up on campus, well, close to campus. on garland street.
from what i understand, they are announcing upcoming road construction projects...not campaigning for taxes or anything. aren't they going to use the existing tax budget for those repairs? that's how i understand it. they are just letting you know where your tax dollars are going. better to actually know than to drive around bitching about the pot holes, saying 'jeez, i wonder what they DO with all that tax money'...lol. now you know, true?

I'll have to call and ask the city myself. That's the only way to know. But, I was lead to believe that they are campaigning for the taxes to improve the roads - NOT merely to show you how they would be using existing tax money.

The purpose of the signs are to educate the public about where the project improvements are located that will be voted on September 12, 2006 in a Bond Issue election.

they are just really misleading signs. i even asked someone who doesn't live here to read it and tell me what he thought it meant. he thought that the funds were already allocated to the projects too.
